Smith River Permit???? Yes.... But......

Well we did it again and drew a Smith River Permit, but Floatfisher pulled a boneheaded move and
did not check one of the mislabeled dates on the application. So bittersweet. We have drawn a date,
but instead of being June as desired, I mis-typed and we will be floating in April if we decide
to go. We will see, we will have to break out the heavy duty camping gear and cold weather gear!

You can never be upset on drawing a permit, we always have the "super draw" to go?

Prime Rib- "River Style"

Are you ready for Summer, I am! There is nothing better than a nice prime cooked
while fishing, floating and camping on the river. Well, you have to have a
little vino to go with the red meat of course? Spring and summer floating is right
around the corner.

Floatfisher Cellars- " Southfork Syrah"

Floatfisher Cellars celebrated it's first bottling last night , with "Southfork Syrah" although young at
18 months, it has a ways to go, it was not bad. First batch of 30 bottle rolled off with live music,
great food and amazing friends. Looking forward to the Unveiling of "Fisheye Malbec" with winter, and several others. Watch the post for more........

Scene's from a Chilly Day of Practice-

Took a day away from the river and fishing, came across a team
practicing speed and moves on the whitewater course. Had
to take the opportunity to get a couple of action shots.

This young team of guys was very intense and dedicated.

"Floatfisher & Fishspotter" Reunited-

Had the opportunity to hook-up and spend a couple of great days floating and fishing with
my buddy Larry aka Fishspotter, for the last few days.  It is darn hard to believe it is
the middle of February and we are float the rivers of Colorado and catching some beautiful fish.
It is always special to fish with Fishspotter, as a great time is had, great stories are told and
many fish are caught. On top of all, there are a few great sights too.

Unbuttoning the ARP Prince from this beautiful rainbow, ready for return to the river.
Early morning ice at the first stop!
Winner, Winner Chicken Dinner, a prize on each drift.
Ms. Floatfisher gets into the action on Saturday. Another bluebird
day of fishing.

First Float of 2012- Part 1

Ms. Floatfisher and I took the maiden voyage of 2012 this past
weekend amidst a weak cold front that was trying to push
through the front range. But that was not going to stop us from getting the boat on the water. Although the air temperature was only a balmy 18 degrees at launch time, with guides freezing up,
it was time to push on and catch a fish. Although it would not
be the first of the year, it would be the first from the boat.

Mary preps the stick for the fishing day. What will the lucky
setup be? Will it warm up and will the sun come out?
The rainbows came out to play today, and boy did they like red?

Little frosty on them there hills, thank god it is staying over there
for now! But a beautiful site for the float.

Charlies Flybox- Tying Demo

Just a shout out to all the fine folks that came out to see a mediocre flytyer wrap a couple of
bugs and talk about fishing the Arkansas River. I appreciate everyone braving the roads and snow
to come on down to Charlies. Sure was nice to see some old friends and meet some new people,
and especially just talk fishing and floating.

As always the hospitality of Greg and Dave was fantastic, Charlie was down bone fishing, so
the "real" crew took care of me.

Hard at work on the next creation.
