Lot's O Fishin

Had the opportunity to spend the last 11 days fishing, rowing, bbq'ing and just plain kicking it.
Wow was it great, hard to believe it is the end of May, no run off to think off and 8/11 days of great
dry fly fishing. Never fished a nymph, never fished two flies. Just plain spoiled.

The trusty PMX lodged firmly in the mouth.
Every morning the bell rang to fish, hard to beat the view.

Even had some fish rising to salmon flies. Ran into them 2 days on the Arkansas. They have been
doing a transplant study and actually got a few to transplant and hatch. Way cool.
Much like the short bus I rode when I was younger, we tried a "short boat" one day and boy howdy,
would that little bugger go anywhere.  We ran in some darn shallow water, never a scrape. It was fun,
could be a great year for a boat like this?

"Waiting for the Next Rise"

Yellow sallies were plentiful, and Mary waits for the next
 rising brown to cast to!

Bugs, Bugs and more Bugs

Low snowpack and little to no prediction of measurable runoff is providing some excellent May fishing, when traditionally the water is chocolate milk and running over 1500 cfs. In addition to the low water, the abundant bug life is blossoming early. Mornings traditionally Start off with midges, as the last few Baetis waste away, making way for the latest summer sightings Of caddis, yellow sallies, our first couple golden stones and yes, a few pmd's. This sure makes you pack a number of fly boxes on the boat. Day 4 continues tomorrow, more to come.

Ready to Fish for 8 Days? YESSSSS!

Boat ready for maximum daily fishing!
Flies tied for maximum use and experimentation.
Even got a Chubby to fish, get you minds out of the gutter.
My favorite rower and chief flycaster still has a smile on her face from last week. I think we are
ready for some excellent weather and fishing.

Forecast Called for Rain- Fish it rained!

Another weekend on the ditch, weatherman gave a dim forecast calling for rain and foul weather
all weekend. I love when the weatherman is wrong, at least partially. Skies provided wonderful
overcast skies, great for throwing streamers and providing a little extra security.
Fishing proved to be stellar again this weekend, had to work the flybox a little, but the larger
fish were out.
A happy Floatfisher, fresh off a catch.
Ms. Floatfisher showing off to the guides and clients. She know her fish and water.

Two are Better than One

On  a recent trip to our favorite frame builder, we saw he latest creation for a group of Lake
Michigan Flyfisherman. Quite the package, two identical Hyside rafts with custom trailer,
on raft has custom motor mount to tow other up and around the tributaries. These guys got nice boats.
The attention to detail was second to none, trailer was kick-ass.

"Face O Feathers"-

Love the days when brown fish want to fill their face with feathers, rubber and tungsten and
and a sharp hook.  Check out the black and copper lipstick.
Isn't she beautiful all dressed up!

"Phat Pat" Strikes Again

Let me tell you how to effectively fish the Famed Arkansas MD Caddis Hatch, Throw some steak and
eggs at the fat old fish, they can not resist. Weekend was filled with lot of fish faces filled with
Pat Rubber legs and wire golden stones. The duo was unbeatable. Although temperatures were warm
and we had rising waters, fish were on the feed.

A happy wife.  That means she will row for me tomorrow.
