BIG SKY COUNTRY

Big Sky Country treated Floatfisher and the Mrs. to an absolutely stunning 10 days of fishing. Many fish were wrangled to the net, including the Yellowstone Slam (Cutthroat, brown, rainbow and white fish). Weather was crazy warm and fishing was enjoyed in t-shirts and shorts, hard to believe it is late September in Montana. This was F*$%#$%$ awesome

Mark and Sara at Headhunters on the Missouri were also outstanding hosts. Although there where a few pesky weeds in the river, the fish were still eating well and smacking the hopper on occasion. Hard to beat the fish of the Missouri. As always, Issack's in the Missouri provided excellent libations and food.

Steve, our guide from Sweetwater Flyshop in Livingston, guides Mary to another fine Yellowstone fish.
Ms. Floatfisher prepares a fine snack on the lower Yellowstone.
Pesky ass fires from Idaho continue to move smoke into the Montana valley's daily. It certainly provides for beautiful sunsets.

Ms. Floatfisher hooked up again, the typical daily pose throughout the 10 days.

SLAM- Yellowstone Style

Rocked today on the Stone! Floatfisher was able to partake in the Yellowstone Slam today ( cutty, brown, rainbow and whitey), all done by lunch. Fabulous day on the big ditch, as we were only boat on the river till lunch, at least in our section.

Then we were treated to dry fly fishing all afternoon, and a little vino.

Floatfisher out!

Off to See the Wizard

Time for a little R/R on the river Montana style. Will be visiting our friends on the Missouri River and also spending time on the Yellowstone River.

Might even have to sample some of the local scotch while on the job. Quality control you know!

Floatfisher will sign out for a few days of well needed fishing with the Mrs.

Shorter Days- Better Fishing

As the sunlight wanes and the days shorten, the fishing continues to get better as the water chills. The browns are starting their dance, soon it will be time to get funky.

Get out and fish!

Floatfisher and Fisherspotter Unite- 5000 + Flies

Fishspotter and Floatfisher joined forces to capture the FOAM market in Colorado. As you have heard me talking, Foam catches fish, we put our money where our mouths our. Somewhere over 5000 flies, from our friends in Thailand.

Secret pattern to be unveiled in 2013 from the Floatfisher and Fishspotter. Details to follow.

Fishspotter inspects the flies at our Denver International Facility.
Quality Control inspection, the next stop will be the river in a few days for the next test. Fishspotter only smiles for two other things?

Photo's Near the Ditch # 1- " Colors"

You cannot beat the pallet of colors that mother natures provides us starting in September and running through late October. You simply cannot mix the colors needed to paint these pictures. Get off your ass and drive a back road, county road and enjoy.

Got to Love the Chubby

If you do not have a supply of Chubby's in a pallet of colors, you have a serious void in your fly arsenal. These are indestructable flies, and will float anything, besides, the silly fish dig them.

So why not fish them. Fish a Chubby.

Thrown FOAM

Floatfisher was back on the oars and the stick the weekend, and the ditch did not let us down.
Foam in was again the meal tickets as the larger fish could not resist. Early morning, low light is the key right now as the fish low the shallows and looking up. 1/2 dozen fish and we did not even get away from the boat launch. It was grand.

Trixie the Hooker consistantly takes the largest fish. Fish just can't pass up the pink and long legs.
Chubbies in Hot Orange, Golden Stone and tan also ran a close second to Trixie.

Oh Yea, besides the Foam, a good cigar is the next best thing. Burnin a Butt on the river.

Keeping it in the Family

Had the opportunity to spend the weekend with my cousin and her husband. Got to show off
our little slice of heaven and catch a couple of fish. Ken did not think our little river would give up these type of fish. He was pleasantly surprised .

Floatfisher keepin' it in the Family.

Although not a typical rainbow, definitely one you can be proud of on any river.

Trixey the Whore and Phat Pat tandem took another brown.

Thank You All !!!

15,000 page views,  marks a pretty neat milestone for this funky little blog called Floatfisher. I am pretty excited that enough of you folks find it entertaining enough to sign-in and check it out. Thank You. It keeps my humor alive and Ms. Floatfisher shaking her head at me. I guess, she will always do that though! I love to row, I love to snap a few photo's and hell, I even like to catch a couple of fish. But most of all it is the one of kind folks you meet along the banks, on the boat ramp, hell even the ones Ms. Floatfisher meets in the bars, that makes the sport and us true athelete's. I could be you next Olympian.

Well I am starting to tear up, I should go.

FISH ON!!

I AM AN ADDICT

Ms. Floatfisher always wonders where all our money goes too? Then she opens the cabinet and finds two new MFC boxes full of neatly organized streamers of every color, size and shape. She says I have a problem.

My Name is Floatfisher, I am an Addict.

Floatfisher Out of Retirement

Holy crap I am spoiled, I hardly have to row anymore as Ms. Floatfisher loves to row, and let
me fish a great deal. This weekend, however, I had friends and family down all weekend and
was summoned to the oars all weekend. It was really nice. Instead of knowing and casting to all the
fish, I actually got to show some others why I LOVE the river so much, and why I have the passion
too spend each and every free day on the river.

The "Strike Inducer" fly was the meal ticket in the afternoons. As you can see all the legs drove the fish nuts. In addition we fished some water we had not fished in a while. Always a bonus.
A man after my own heart, he too like long legs!
The brilliant ski's provided beautiful back drops for photo's again. ken readies to or the next section.
