Tying Meat Whistles

Tying season begins, it will be the season of more streamers, new and different and the old standby's.
No sense in getting away from the things that work. Is your bench clean and ready, if not, get it there, snow is falling, football is in full swing and fishing is slowing down, Fly tying season is coming into full focus.

Colder Weather

The raft is back already from it's annual checkup and checkout at Dr. Now having the additional boat it afforded us to beat the on-slot of river rafting companies bringing their rafts in for routine maintenance. A few new valves, a little urethane touchup on the wear spots, and Ye Olde Hyside is ready for another season.
With the raft being done almost 2 months ahead of schedule, we can now be ready for the occasional
December or January day that presents itself to float, as it looks like water levels could be decent in certain water sheds to winter float.
Are you ready, Suit up and get ready, there is not off season for the crazy fly-fisherman.

The First, Now the Eternal Chase

Lost in over 1000 raw images from our recent trip to the Deschutes River, is this gem. Ms. Floatfishers first Steelhead on the swing.  The fish we dream of, still silver with rosey cheeks, Oh so beautiful. Like being hooked on Cocaine, you are always chasing your  first "high". Chasing Steelhead is very much the same, you want that same feeling of that first fish, the "Tug", the rip of line. Man you want that feeling over and over.

Hence the reason, we look to chase these beautiful fish several times a year. This coming year will be no different. So proud of my wife, I can only hope to catch up to her on the catch ratio.
