Easter on the Green River

Utah and the Green River treated us to a lovely Easter Weekend. Although the water was raised unusually high according to our hosts who frequent the river semi annually, we managed to have a stellar time. The mornings were a touch on the cool side, so there was no need to get on the water in a hurry. The fish were not on the feed unusually quick. We quickly learned that the enjoyable fishing style would be "headhunting"for rising fish, instead of watching the colored indicator. The back-eddies and scumlines proved fun and productive. Flies of choice were: Parachute BWO, Griffith Gnats and Brooks Sprouts. Wine of choice: Merlot / Malbec.

On the river live photo shoot? Who was the subject and how big was the fish? More to come in the next edition.

Next Stop! Green River

Our next fishing expedition will take up to lovely Dutch John, UT to fish with some very good friends. Having fished all over, this will be our first trip to the infamous Green River. We are looking forward and hope to have some photos and videos to share with you all.

Great Float and Nice Fish

Although the ditch does not have much water in it now, the fish are as nice as I have ever seen them. They have the serious feedbag on and it will only get better going into the caddis hatch, can't wait.

A really nice brown hanging in the shallows off the riffle, feeding his face. Sure makes your day to have on like this. Especially since the wind did not blow.

Browns are getting bigger on average.

Hi-Vis PMD Pattern

Low Flows and Great Fishing

Woke up to a beautiful sunrise and knew it would be a nice day on the river. Although the flows are low, the wind was not blowing, like yesterday.

Brown Fish Face

Although not very big, all the fish were about this size and eating! This is always a nice thing to have while floating.

Shore Lunches

When floating and fishing, it has always been my style to enjoy a nice lunch when with friends / guide on the river. This why I especially enjoy fishing with my wife, because she will always take the time to stop and enjoy the beautiful riverside scenery, while eating a prepared lunch or a fresh streamside made lunch.

It is always fun to float the longer rivers and compete amongst the friends for the best hot lunch on the river. It is amazing how creative everyone can get, as well as sophisticated the recipes can become. Well, someone has to be the test dummy. Might as well be me!

Lunch for Two, table by the river........

My wife could be cheating on me, I photographed her have lunch with another guide? Seemed strange she was going shopping in her fishing pants and shirt and had her lanyard with her. I should have caught on!!
