TU Flybox Donation

Finally sat down this weekend and pounded out a few flies for my annual donation to
Denver's Cutthroat Chapter Trout Unlimited. I always try and tie a nice selection of
flies for our local rivers. Chapter is always very good, and flies go in the "live" auction.

I usually donate several custom boxes to the local and state level TU Chapters to help raise much needed
money for conservation and fight the causes. It is the least I can do. What have you done?

New Addition to the Family-

With a bye week, the weekend TV viewing was very weak. We were put to the mission of finding a
suitable place to display our newest addition to the family. The authentic Riddell signed Aarron Rodgers
signed Green Bay Helmet.
We added "Aaron Rodgers" to the family in the past couple of weeks.

Goin' Crazy- No Fishing

Hard to believe the last weekend away from the ditch was Aug. 7/8 , we have been on a good long run
this summer and into fall. With the fishing season winding down, and the mounting chores that
have added up over the many months, fishing will start to slow down. Damn, my hands are shaking only
at the thought of not pumping up the raft in the morning and tying on some bugs.

Waters in the Colorado area are starting to cool down and fish are moving slowly into the deeper
holding waters, fewer boats on the water and "Welcome Hunter" signs everywhere. The mountain tops
all have a dusting of snow.

This evening watching the World Series, I actually thought of cleaning off my tying bench and starting
my winter tying list. I have to get back in practice of tying, haven't done much in the past year or so.

Looking forward to posting new patterns and testing out new photo techniques.
Nice day for a stroll!

A few Spectacular shot from the Colorado River-

Spent a great weekend floating and fishing the lower Colorado
River. Enjoy a few special photos from our weekend. Weather
was as beautiful as the remaining fall colors. As you can see
we got a couple of out finned friends to come out and play.
A fall brown in all its fine colors

It just couldn't resist the meat!

Live from the Colorado River-

Hard to believe it is October 22/23 out, with the weather we are experiencing, it is crazy to think it was in the mid to high 70's while floating yesterday. Had the opportunity to float the lower stretch's of the Colorado. The fall colors have not fallen over here yet, which made for a stellar float. Every bend treated us too beautiful sights and with the river flowing a nice 2500 cfs. fish were found everywhere.

I really have the streamer bug right now, but the damn weather has been too nice to fish them, but, I threw them anyway to see if I could get any chasers. The Coffee Minnow by Headhunters proved to be the meal ticket as I had seveal very nice browns say "not in my house" and devour it. But the bite was short live and it was back to nymphing the riffles and seams.

We are on a short break this morning as we have tire issues with the boat trailer and are waiting for the tire shop to open this morning. Should not be long and we will be back on the water.

As a side note, the sunken driftboat was extracted from the river yesterday at the Rifle bridge, rower is still missing and presumed dead after 8 days. Very, very sad event. The river channel has severely changed down in Riffle by the take-out and pulls you right into the bridge piling if you are not on your A game. Another raft was flipped on the piling two days ago, not injures, thank goodness. Be extra careful if floating this section.

My new "Pimp" Custom Fishing shades

Just received my new Oakley Custom Dispatch Polorized glasses from
Charlies this week. Although like this model, they have clear frames with bronze
polarized glass. They rock, and will be the only pair in the Colorado area.

Fall Colors- Brown Trout Style

TIme to head out for more fall fishing, this time I think we will try our rowing skills on
the Colorado River. It is that time to throw some small, medium and large, nasty
looking bugs at those fish on the other side of the mountain. Hopefully the will be chasing
and eating. If not we will be armed with the other small morsels they like to eat too.

Goofin' Off in Fall!

Had the chance to take a couple of extra days off with Ms. Floatfisher for some great R&R
and fall fishing. We could have picked a better set of days a month ago when deciding we
should goof off this week. As mentioned in earlier posts the weather and fishing where spectacular.
In addition, by viewing the photo's below, the fall colors in the trees and fish were in
full force.

I just love this time of year, no one on the river, fishing is great and the scenery is great. Lots of
wildlife out and about.

Midges, Caddis and Mayfly's

Another stellar day on the ditch, warm night made for an early start to the bug activity today. Although the skies where blue and bright, the bug activity was intense from 9:30- 1:00 pm. Fish responded well to the "Bachelor Party" concoction of flies. Fish keyed into them and often. I don't think we have had the opportunity to catch as many rainbows as we did today. In addition, we had a stretch of large ones, which was a bonus. Well tomorrow is another day, and I am guessing it will be more of the same.

Great Day on the ditch!

Today was a chamber of commerce day on the ditch. The morning
started cool and ended in spectacular style. With the sky bright blue and the water crystal clear, all we had to do was get the fish to eat, and did they. The meal ticket of the day was a red copper John and an olive Two bit hooker. No pictures too post or share, as they fishing was that good.

More to come tomorrow!

First snow of the fall season with fall colors! WOW

Another fantastic weekend of October fishing was had this weekend. Although the forecast called
for rain and snow most of time, I thought to myself, this cold front could present some fantastic Streamer fishing. It also mean't we had to dawn the darn waders, boots and cool weather gear for the first time since May. Well as you will see, it was worth it, an oh what a time we had on the old ditch.

As the weeks of fishing wind down, we must take advantage of all we have left. Will be back on the
ditch for another 4 day next week. Can't wait. More fall colors and the weather is supposed to be in
the 70's. That is amazing for October.

Ms. Floatfisher's sled with a little early snow.

A cold, damp overcast morning led to streamer fishing.

A little snow and the fall colors made for two days of
beautiful floating and fishing!

This brown fell to what we affectionately call the " Bachelor Party"-
the Olive and Red Two Bit Hooker fished in tandem.

Awesome shot of the snow and colors.
