Meet the Ashers

 Though I would take back old school today and tie a classic that still holds a few slots in many

fly fishers midge boxes. The Orange and Lime Asher, a couple a solid sleepers you should have tucked 

in you special hiding spot for those picky fish. 

Crazy what colors some fish can simply not leave alone, for me it seem that purple and lime are two of 

those colors.

Winter Project Finished- Finally

Wow, a crazy month and half project has finally wrapped up, this was a major under taking to gather up every flybox, dismantle, resort, discard and re-organize almost 20 new boxes , this does not include the streamer boxes. They are now organized by type, size and waters.

 Last batch of special twists we should need for the season, other than crazy new patterns and new rivers we plan on visiting.

 Sample of the stonefly box, however this is a very big sector and I have two selections.

Stonefly Dries- again two / three different boxes because of varying different degrees of flies.

So glad this task if finished.

Thinkin' Back

Man, how time flies, it was only a year ago when we were packing and getting ready to head out on our first steelhead adventure, now a year later, hooked like most, we are figuring out how to book a few more trips this year. Unfortunately due to family obligations this February, we will not be able to join the crew on the OP for a repeat performance. Sure would like to be back , beautiful waters and great people.  Here's to a great 2015 of fishing to everyone out in blognation.

Sunsets

What a great Sunday, the sunset on a great season of football for my beloved team, the Green Bay Packers. Although they missed a couple of key plays that cost them the game, still a proud fan.

We will be back next year. Hats off to the Seattle Seahawks. Once again, it is time to start the 2015 fishing season, now that football season is over.

On a second note, we say farewell to on 1 of 3 boats, we sold our little "Fatboy" to a good home.

It got little use compared to the workhorse Hyside and the "new" workhorse Adipose. It was sad to 

see it go, but alway happy to see another fisherman / floater get a new toy. Congrats and enjoy!

Now I guess I got some new toy money!

Big Day

Big Day in the Floatfisher household, as the infamous Greenbay Packers take on the Seattle Seahawks

NFC Championship. The going will be very tough for the Packers, especially playing in Seattle with the 12th Man and a hobbled Aaron Rodgers, but the faithful have there back have trust they can get it done.

Rockin' New Glass

Technically not a Christmas gift , however a new toy to start off the 2015 fishing season it is alway hard to attend the annual Fly Fishing Shows and find new interesting things. Well , this year we actually did. Although I have been checking into Blue Halo for a little while, I had no idea we, we would run into them at the show. Poof, no better time to jump in the fire and get one than the present. 

Thought we would get a 7wt. to mess around and throw a few streamers. It may a break-in trip in San Diego fishing the day in February, we will see.

Look Whats in Town

It's that time of year, we know the weather will be cold and we will get a little snow, because the annual Fly Fishing Show is in town. Although there is never anything really new, it does break up 

the first month of the winter doldrums. There are a couple of fly tying booths with interesting items, and some folks to talk steelheading with, as that is our new interest. Although, I am never board with finned

friends of any waters. 

Always worth the price of admission, although we will pass the film tour this year as that is always a shit show, screen and audio are crap, and they seem to put it together at the last minute. Will support a better venue.
