"Late" by Joe Cummings

Bitterroot River Montana Fly Fishing Video - Late from Joe Cummings on Vimeo.

Getting that last fish in before winter sets in is important to all of us, Joe has a nice little
video short explaining why "LATE" can be so good most places, but real good on the Bitterroot.
A little Baileys and coffee video morning.

"Handy Tandem"

When on a search for rising fish on small streams and rivers, this "Handy Tandem" is always a proven
producer for me. The old stand-by lt. orange stimulator or lt. olive, even better in most cases and the trusty elk hair caddis. Fish them about 14-18" apart, amply dressed with your favorite floatant, and watch for the rise.

AFCP - Test Pattern

It's the winter fly tying season, this is the time when we start greeting creative at the vise, to come
up with something just a little bit different. Although, I would not consider this ground breaking by
any means, it has all the characteristics that make it look very "fishy". A very simple and durable
pattern, fished on just the right drop offs, would induce jarring strikes.

Breaking Barriers

I have been looking for a while, but the opportunity finally presented itself the other night at the annual Trout Unlimited Auction. Been eyeing the Scott F2 Fiberglass rod, as it will be next summers photo
project. I have read a lot about this little gem, looking forward to fishin' it.

Well, much to my luck, the rod did not come alone, it came with an nice Abel TR 1 Reel.
Should be a fun little package.

Mother Nature at Her Finest by Gerry Bauer

Our great friend Gerry B. had the great fortune recently to spend a week in Alaska shooting stills of Bald Eagles. He very graciously has shared a couple of his shots with Floatfisher and the daily readers to enjoy. These are truly beautiful creatures.
 Such a majestic bird.
A truly amazing photo and focus of the true fisherman. This catch is not getting away. Check out the circle hooks on this dude. Thanks for allowing me to share your photo's with readers Gerry. What a trip.

Waypoints Screening- Denver

Ms. Floatfisher and I joined a rowdy fulfilled group of folks from Trouts Fly Fishing. A few libations, a  party bus to and from the showing and nice little after party. A nice way to go to the show.
Highlighted by the early afternoon of spending time talking and laughing with the one and only
Hank Patterson, who as in to emcee the evening event. He was all to happy to share his guiding secrets
that have made him #1.
The movie it self was kick ass, the photography and video were out of this world, especially the underwater shots and views from St. Brandon's Atoll. As the bar is raised far too high for the 98% of us average flyfisher folks, we will only dream for a few hours we see these spectacular spots. It fills the void as the fishing season winds down. I salute the luck few who had the opportunity to go along and
shot the video. What a great opportunity

Mary getting the "Whipit , Whip it, now snap it" technique lecture from Hank.
At least I think they were talking about fishing.

Hank sharing some of his exotic photos of the elusive cuttrainbrown. This was his world record 39"
male caught not long ago.

A good time was had, a few too many PBR's were had. And a lot of money raise for the  Defend the Upper Colorado River.

"Streamside - Photo of the Day

"Streamside"
A reflection from a wonderful season spent float many great rivers of the west. Many fish were
missed , however, many fish were brought to the net. So many smiles and much laughter was heard from the our boat rowing down the river, A few old rock and roll tunes were probably heard with a bent rod also.

Gin and tonics could be found in the cup holders from time to time, but mainly good times are found
Streamside.
