Blue Wing Hunt on Easter

Easter Weekend treated us well as the weather was absolutely fantastic, so nice that I donned shorts and  sandals for both days. A smidge chilly in the mornings, but really nice the rest of the day. Oh how I do not miss wearing waders.

Our view for a great deal of the float. What a great way to spend Easter Sunday.
Ms. Floatfisher in Easter Outfit, think she got her holidays mixed up.  Should have fished on St. Paddy's Days.

Blue Wings were out flying today, sure was nice to see noses rising to our flies. Game On.

Rainbows and Stoneflys in the Round

If you have never tied or fished the Richard Strolis pattern, Stonefly in the Round, you should. The fly is a very productive pattern this time of year. Earlier this year I tied my version of his patten and posted it.
Today I am sharing it again, as it is worth another look.

Floatfisher upgrades his Toy Box

Thanks to a very kind and loving wife, Floatfisher, has a new toy for the coming season. With a couple of nice lens already in the quiver, the new camera and lens will be a fine addition.

Looking forward to the next float on the ditch.... two weeks and counting.

Saturday on the River with Mary

Saturday I got to spend the day on the river with my lovely wife. As you all can see the fishing was good amongst a little wind and occasional spitting rain. Rainbows were the flavor of the day as they wanted to eat midges, mayflies and a few stones.

These rainbows fell victim to the infamous 2 Bit Hooker, color red.T

My Day on the Ditch with FISHSPOTTER

Got to spend a great day on the ditch with my good buddy Fishspotter aka Larry. First trip of the
year down the river together to test some patterns, laugh and row. A great time was had by all parties.

Larry hooked up again, was a common theme most of the day
Our fine finned friends were on a solid diet of golden stones today.

Taking a day off from the vise, thought I would post this unique view of the "Booger Head" as today's theme. We all fish and tie bugger's as a staple of our fly box's. Thought this shot was cool and unique.

FIRST FLOAT OF THE YEAR

Oh, how good it felt to get the boat out on the water. The snow and ice on the boat ramp made it a bit of a challenge to get there, however, a fresh coat of 303 on the bottom made her glide right to the water.
A few strokes and the rust was beginning to wear off. Man if felt great.
Water is really low making a few of the rapids challenging. Although there is no speed to them, the technical moves keep you on the move, especially after a winter of rest and being rusty.
Damn, Ms. Floatfisher always gets the first fish! Oh well, the price one pays to fish all the time.
