First Fish of the New Year

 Breaking new barriers for the Floatfisher household for 2013, as we join the Carp rage. Mary rings in 

February with a her first South Platte Carp. We decided to take the February Carp special up with Colorado Skies Flyshop, and learn how to fish the South Platte River right in down town Denver.

What a hoot. The fish are big and powerful even in the cold water, can't imagine what it would be like in warm weather when they really run!

Ms. Floatfisher hooked up.

Great Saturday at Charlie's Flybox

Like to give a big shout out to Charlie, Ross and Dave for asking me to tie at the shop this past Saturday, what a blast. I would also like to thank all the gracious customer and friends that came to see me tie and share some of my favorite and new patterns. 

Flavor of the day was caddis and stonefly patterns, as that is the table fare on the Arkansas River

Came across this nice short film by Harley Reed on the Kanetok River in Alaska. Shot in Black n White, stellar music to accompany, this film chronicles a guides summer in Alaska. As Mrs. Floatfisher and I ponder floating this river next summer on our own, it brings great future thoughts. Sit back and enjoy your morning cup of joe, or your evening scotch.
